So many hands and ideas have gone into the making of Q8books a reality. Without them, the task of setting up a site and store would have been much harder for a person already having a full time job. Many friends have pitched in one way or the other; for those who did not volunteer, work was thrust upon them - so much for the liberties of friendship for me! On the whole, I am happy that I have friends who I can count on in times of need, and without whose encouragement and support, this idea would have remained as such .The order of names are listed alphabetically and carry no particular order of importance.

Asha Menon: Living a few thousand kilometers away (Klang - Malaysia) has not hindered her from always being handy with tips on the emerging web-site, and has cheered me right through from the project's conception to where it is now. But most of all for the wonderful encouragement that is needed to turn an idea into reality. The carved wooden horse in the store stands as a tribute to her.

Babita Sequeira: The biggest mistake she made was asking me "Can I help you with the work??". Catch me passing off that kind of an offer. Knowing how sincere she was to help, I doubled the work even!! But the way I see it, it is training grounds for her and someday if you see a branch of q8books in Fahaeel or Mangaf, guess who would be running it?

Basil Perera: He has seen me through this project right from the very start. Always willing to help in any way possible, right from driving me around, sorting and packing books, to loading them from house to office. All of which have involved a lot more effort and goodwill than mere "wishes" and "prayers" that a few others have opted for instead. Thank you.

Cesar Yap: A busy person, yet took all those countless hours to figure out what I exactly wanted. Boy! Did I trouble him.. Surely he deserves praise for the patience and endurance he has extended me throughout most of the site's development. In my opinion he certainly stands out as a wizard in computing. Yet, always humble and ever willing to help. A special thanks.

George & Anju Varghese: My cousin and his wife who are unlikely patrons to the outlet because they have already read most of the books. And that too for free! Well, in a way it was compensation for all our lively discussions of the last three years; all of which has re-enforced my zeal to get this project off the ground. Thanks for bearing up with all the "book" talk and for being supportive in many other ways.

Jenifer Fernandez: The youngest person among all these but with the zeal to match all others when it comes to books. She has helped me through out the setting up of the store (rushing from her regular work to the store almost every evening) and has taken lots of effort to set things right in the Children’s/Teens and Science Fiction Sections. A special thanks to her.

Martin Mathew: My colleague and my consultant in areas of computing which I have been stuck with (almost always)! Anyone who wants a project done (for a fee!!) I recommend Martin’s services. He has patience and also intelligence to match his area of expertise. I would have spent countless hours unnecessarily trying to figure out things that he was able to do in a few minutes. My sincere appreciation.

Mohan & Anuja Menon: For being supportive in many untold ways, including driving me around, donating books, soliciting books, but most of all for simply being there for good advice and encouragement. My gratitude.

Robert : For all his time at the store pricing and sorting, his donation of books, and his great piece of drawing skills (the location map was created and perfected by him)– for his very pleasant and un-assuming personality… many thanks.

Susan Alexander: For the many assignments she has so willingly volunteered and for the ones that were thrust upon her. Except perhaps for the text on this page, she was unilaterally assigned as the chief reviewer and editor of the text, language, logo, graphics, etc, that appears on this site. So, if and when a flaw is uncovered, readers will know who to catch!!! A very special thanks to you.

Last but not the least, my sincere gratitude goes to those who have donated their books, time, and ideas to making this small dream come true. Special mentions to Albert, Bandu, Bency, Cleon, Lata, Orlando, Pramod, Ralph, Reyna, Sirish, Yogesh.

True! It really takes soooooooooo many people to get a books store started out. The good news is that any aspiring book store owners and prospective competitors who are reading this would now think twice…!

Now that most work is done, and we are on our way to an atomic version of Amazon.com, the next step is for all the above people to start buying books from me, without which, all what they did would have been in vain!!!

Q8Books opened on 20th July 03. A Cryptic Tribute.
